30, Are there any organization that has succeeded in insisting its opinion to companies?

A NPO, Animal Rights Center has succeeded in insisting not to use animals for experimentations. I'm going to give some examples.

(1) Kao

Kao is known as the products such as shampoos, detergents or diapers. Animal Rights Center has asked Kao to disestablish  animal experimentation.

"As for cosmetics and quasi drugs, we haven't done any animal experimentation from March, 2015. "

However, in China, every import goods has to be ensured by animal experimentation and Kao export its products to China. So it has not fully abolished anima experimentation.

(2) ROHTO

ROHTO is famous for its products such as skincare products, eye care products and internal remedy.

In 2015, CFB asked ROHTO to talk about its necessity of animal experimentation but ROHTO refuged. Then CFB sent a question paper and ROHTO replied that it continued to experiment animals if it's needed.

Animal Rights Center asked to collect signatures on its internet page and finally, ROHTO announced that it won't do animal experimentation anymore from January, 2016.

(3) Fuji Film

Fuji Film is known as one of the famous camera brands. These days, they produces skin care products and precision mechanical equipment.

Animal Rights Center asked Fuji Film if it experimented animals for their products and it replied that they didn’t use animal experimentation for its cosmetic products and both finished products and raw materials of quasi drugs. Also, it didn’t carry out animal experimentation on its basic researches.

However, the same as Kao, Fuji Film exports its products to China so it tests animals exceptionally.

Question 13: Who pays for animal testing?

We do. The taxes we pay are using for animal testing. Some of the taxes we pay inevitably go towards funding animal-based research. Every year, the United States government gives billions of dollars to the National Institutes of Health, which the NIH in turn uses to sponsor research using animals. The NIH conducts animal experimentation in its own facilities, as well as providing funding for vivisection at many private companies, organizations, colleges and universities. With an average annual budget exceeding $12 billion, the NIH is the largest supporter of animal testing in the world.

Question 12: Are animals too different from people for animal testing to be valid?

Obviously there are differences between animals and people. But under the skin, the biology of humans and other animals is similar. We have the same organs, controlled by the same nerves and hormones, as many other species. Where there are differences, researchers know about them, and such differences can actually help scientific understanding of a particular problem. Many animals suffer quite naturally from the same diseases as humans, and can be used to study those diseases.

Question 11: How do you find out if a company tests its products on animals?

You can find out from some organizations' web sites that deal with animal testing. They has introduced the companies that test on animals and the companies that do not test on animals. PETA has introduced them.

Question 10: What do doctors and scientists think about animal testing?

I think that it is very difficult for doctors and scientists to decide whether animal testing is good or bad because their jobs are to design drugs and to confirm safety of the drugs. The supporters said “It's the law. All drugs have to be tested on animals before they can be tested on humans.” “Patients feel safe and are more likely to trust medicines if they know they have been tested on animals first.” I think it is true, we do not want to buy the products that are not tested because it is dangerous. On the other hand, the opponents said “Humans and animals don't always react in the same way to a drug.” “Not all drugs are used for the original purpose they were designed for. Animal testing can't show all the potential uses of a drug.” And also they doubt whether it is morally right or not to test all medicines on animals first. Opinion about animal testing is divided greatly among doctors and scientists.
